Multiple professional sources indicate the current Air Quality Index is much improved. Based on current data for Monday and Tuesday, Valley Christian Schools will reopen tomorrow. If the Air Quality Index worsens and we must close school, we will notify VCS families and employees by 5:30 AM. As of now, junior high and high school will resume on Monday, November 19, 2018, as scheduled. Elementary students are not scheduled to attend school although elementary parent conferences are scheduled. If parents or guardians keep their students away from school for health considerations, VCS teachers will apply handbook policies for missed school work.
VCJH is an academically challenging yet nurturing learning environment where sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students learn through a comprehensive approach to all subjects. Emphasis is placed on developing effective study skills and discipline for more advanced academic work. Additionally, co-curricular programs through the Conservatory of the Arts and AMSE (the Applied Math, Science, and Engineering Institute) enrich students’ God-given talents with extraordinary opportunities, preparing them for the extensive college preparatory program at Valley Christian High School.
Many students take multiple Honors courses during their time in junior high school, with a majority of the VCJH graduates continuing to Valley Christian High School enrolling in the VCHS Honors Program, entering classes as high as Chemistry Honors and Trigonometry/PreCalculus Honors.
This strength of schedule is coupled with a wide-ranging selection of exciting electives.
3D Animation, Cadet Strings, Color Guard, Speech and Debate, Photography, Spanish I Honors, Clay Projects, Alpha Drums, Dance Workshop, Yearbook, Online Journalism, Drama, Investigative Science, Video Projects, VCJH Space Program, Art Fundamentals, Quest Band, Sporting Life, Project Lead the Way (engineering courses).
